I’ve started to meditate again. Once a day for 20 minutes.
I’ve meditated before – on and off for the last 20 years.
And yet i feel like a beginner, like i don’t really know anything.
So this blog is for people who don’t really know anything about meditation, but are curious to find out – and perhaps even want to try it for themselves.
Doing it like me: sitting on a cushion, breathing in and out, trying to concentrate, trying to focus – but mainly feeling distracted.
And maybe feeling like a bit of a plonker. What am i doing? What am i doing this for? I’m a working class bloke from a council estate in the Midlands (UK) now living in Devon. Meditating is not for the likes of me. It’s daft. Buddhism is for serious “spiritual” people isn’t it?
I’ll try to keep talk of Buddhism to a minimum if i can. I’m not really interested to become a Buddhist. I’m not even really that interested in becoming a meditator.
I just want to become free.
Gil Fronsdal is a good guide to all of this and i recommend you check him out (I’ve linked to talks to him on the blog)
Maybe you’ll be able to see your own aspirations in mine. So join me, and lets explore together what meditating and becoming mindful could be about.
The joy of liberation may soon be ours.
